Our Methodology
Most engagement surveys hand you a score and leave you to work out what to do with it. Our Cause & Effect methodology goes further. It's the system behind every Pynacle programme, showing leadership not just how engaged people are, but exactly what's driving that number, and where to focus first. It's built on six pillars of the employee experience, and it's the reason our clients don't walk away with just a score. They walk away with a plan.

Six Pillars, One Clear Picture
Every Pynacle survey looks at six areas of working life: Operations, Communications, Training & Development, Leadership, Culture and Wellbeing. Together, these impact on how engaged your people are. But we don't stop at engagement. We track how that engagement shows up in the business itself, in productivity, service quality, and whether people intend to stay. It's a straight line from experience to outcome, so leadership sees not just a score, but what that score actually means for the organisation.
Why the Line Manager Is the Real Lever
Of the six pillars, one consistently has the greatest impact: leadership, and specifically, the direct line manager. Two teams in the same organisation, working under the same policies and the same senior leadership, can have completely different experiences of work. The difference is almost always the person managing them day to day. That's why we analyse every department separately rather than relying on one company-wide average, which can just as easily hide a struggling team as reveal one worth learning from.
A Score Alone Isn't the Point
The real value of the methodology is knowing where to act first. We identify which pillars are driving engagement the most in your organisation, so leadership can prioritise with confidence rather than guessing. No client is ever left confused by their data. Everyone leaves with a clear picture of where they stand now, and a clear path forward.
The Standard Behind Certification
This same rigour carries through to how we recognise excellence. The Certified Pynacle Workplace® mark is only awarded when an organisation clears the threshold on every pillar, not on average. It's a deliberate standard, and it's what makes the mark mean something to the people who see it.
